Again With the Food

Nope, nothing to see here, but plenty of whining. If you're not in the mood, come back another time, because this one isn't going to be pretty. I went to the doctor yesterday and he strongly recommended that I go on a no-carb meal plan. I need to lose weight and I need to get serious about it. So I started today, and as a result, I have a whopper of a headache. It might be unrelated, but I doubt it. So the upshot is that I will try and limit the complaining, but it may seep through every now and then, at least until I see some progress in the weight loss department.

To top off the day, I had an in-service during my planning time and a forty five minute parent conference that began at 4:00 p.m., and now I have a ridiculous amount of work to do when all I want to do is knit.

Ok, enough whining. Tomorrow is Friday, and on Saturday, Melissa and I are driving to Washington, DC, to attend the National Book Festival and have a girls' weekend. Fun is almost here. Happy TGIF!

  1. No carbs, or limited carbs? I don't believe a no carb diet is good for us and it doesn't really help change behavior. Get rid of the empty carbs and see what happens--sugar, bread, sodas, etc.--keep the veggies.

  2. Yes, that's what it is but all the "good" carbs are out.

  3. Surely you must mean a low carb diet, not a no carb one! Your brain needs carbs, and there are so many healthy ones out there. What about legumes? What about fruit?

  4. Yes, I am eating some carbs, but cutting out sugar, flour, bread, etc. felt lousy the first two days but doing better now.

    1. Rose,
Have you considered trying the DASH diet? It's promoted by NIH and there are different calorie options. It has the added benefit of lowering blood pressure. I put my husband on it when he gained a lot of weight while travelling a lot abroad. It worked! There's a new book version of it on the market, I think.
