Grateful

I'm not sure if I accurately conveyed the seriousness of the slump I was in since March, but I'm so very thankful that I'm on the other side of it. Apparently, all I needed was a change in medication to feel like myself again. I have renewed respect for people who struggle with depression, something I so very rarely have to deal with, and the fact that mine is easily managed with the proper medication makes me grateful beyond words. I have been on an anti-depressant for the last ten years as a way to deal with anxiety, but recently the other side of the coin reared its head and made every work day feel like I was serving a prison sentence. I spent at least three weekends in a row sleeping 12-14 hours a day, only to return to work just as exhausted as when I left. Thankfully I have a good doctor who was willing to prescribe a new medication for me and it improved things almost immediately. The reason I'm sharing this here is the same reason I'm so open about it at work: mental health care is nothing to be ashamed of. If you need help, get it.

More spring flowers.

More Gracie.

Yarn bombing.

This photo looks like Gracie is trying to read a knitting pattern in order to help me correct my error.

Finally, a lovely photo of a group of women friends who call ourselves the Beaches, taken this past weekend at one of the women's wedding. So much fun and so much love.

Hope you have love in your life.

  1. Glad you are doing better, and I hope it continues. Sometimes those slogs seem to last forever.

I hope Gracie gave you extra cuddles as well.

  2. I'm glad you finally spoke to your doctor. It's not uncommon to have to rebalance or even switch medications sometimes to manage depression/anxiety. This happens frequently in the case of a loved one, and as you said, it is the same as needing to re-evaluate meds for any other physiological illness.

Our Spring is about a week or two behind yours, with very cold Ohio nights limiting our lilacs and leaves. But the redbuds are in their glory this year. Enjoy your blossoms and friends, and always, dear Gracie.

  3. I am so glad you looked into your feeling bad and the doctor prescribed the proper medication. My son has anxiety and depression secondary to that. There has not been any medication that has helped. He is a trooper and I can see how he is affected. My Dad also suffered from depression although I think it was more of a post traumatic stress syndrome from WWII, they didn't treat that back then.
    Hugs to you lovey Rose,

  4. No, you did not convey the depth of your feelings, but I am so glad that you are on the mend. I am always struggling with anxiety and depression, so my heart goes out to you. I swear by the rarely used Tricyclic meds. They have some side effects but are super effective. They also help a lot with headaches. If you want to know more, just email me or PM me on Rav. I've been doing this since 1985!
Sadly, I don't think I'll make it to the East Coast this summer. Too many other things going on. But next summer for sure. And you're always welcome to venture here!
