Weekend

This is the front porch of one of my favorite coffee shops; I would really love to tile my front porch steps this way, wouldn't you? I think it would be the perfect look for my little beach cottage.

My plan was to get up and work at a favorite coffee shop for a couple of hours on Saturday. My first glitch was when I couldn't get my laptop to connect with their wi-fi, so I decided to do some paper/pencil planning instead. Glitch number two was when a lonely man began talking to me and I felt obliged to listen. Twenty minutes later, I packed up and moved to another coffee shop, but by then I had lost my momentum. It was still a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning, just not as productive as I had hoped.

I had some Spud & Chloe sweater yarn arrive on my doorstep Friday. It's chocolate brown and skydiver, meant for a sweet baby sweater, using this pattern.

Stephanie and Melissa were with us this weekend, so I made an enchilada casserole for dinner Saturday night. We listened to a Latino radio station using my NPR Music app. (If you are an iPad owner, you have to get this free app.)

And I made good on my intention to get down to the beach! Steve and I took a walk Sunday morning and it was absolutely gorgeous. I've been wishing for snow and cold weather all winter, but this walk made me release that desire and embrace the spring that is here. Now, I'm eagerly awaiting summer, in the hopes of making up for all of last summer's lost beach time!

Hope your week is a good one!

  1. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend, and the pictures of the beach are so beautiful. Haven't been to the beach near me yet, life gets too busy sometimes. My MIL has been visiting and she is a bit restricted so maybe next week. Have a wonderful day,

  2. That would be a fun project. The tiling, I mean. Maybe some beach glass in there, too? New yarn, new pattern. Hard not to get started, I think. have a great week.

  3. Wish I could enlarge that porch photo. It looks beautiful.

Nice yarn there, Rose. I like S&C. Can't wait to see the sweater.

    1. Yeah, it feels really nice. I think it'll be good for a baby sweater, but I still need to buy buttons.

  4. I do love the tiled stairs. I love tile period. A friend of mine mosaicked (is that a verb?) the backsplash in her kitchen, and it is very cool.
