Back Home Again

The weather on Saturday was the complete opposite of the beautiful weather on Friday, so I went to the Brooklyn Flea at Industry City.

I loved all the colors, glassware, and textiles, but I only bought an ice cream and a little bag of ribbons.

I took a picture of each of my grand pets before I left.

This cat isn't one of my grand pets, but I love seeing cats on brownstone steps; it seems such a quintessentially Brooklyn sight.

I love the Departures board at Penn Station fo some reason, even though I'm always sad to leave my daughter.

I got a lot of knitting done on my trip, including what seemed to be miles of ribbing; I think I can begin decreasing now.

I also worked on my first color work project, Saugerties Hat, and I love it!

I took a photo of these hats at an Eddie Bauer store so I can try to replicate them; I love the colors and the thick-thin yarn.

I went back to work this morning and although it's only 8:00, I'm ready for bed. Hope you have a great week! (Only 14 more school days before my winter break!!!!!)

  1. Ugh. Ribbing. How I hate it and how I fail at it. It's a concentration issue.

I covet those Pyrex mixing bowls. My mother had that exact set for decades. The huge yellow one was our potato salad bowl for parties. Yum!

And those tall zombie-style glasses, frosted and fruit-patterned. We had those as well, but briefly. Highly fragile and easily broken in hot dishwater. But so pretty!

    1. I love the vintage kitchen stuff so much! Thankfully I was limited on space (and money) so I didn't succumb to the temptation. Those striped red bowls were gorgeous! Plus, I'm trying to scale back a bit on my "stuff". Small houses made in the fifties don't have a lot of storage space, which is a good thing, really.

    1. Thank you! I always love seeing my daughter, although she rarely allows photographs :(

  3. I can't believe you haven't done colourwork before! I assume this is stranded knitting (fair isle), not mosaic knitting. I teach stranded knitting classes, and I usually recommend a hat as a first project. Once you gain confidence, you might be interested in trying out Three Tams from Knitty 2007.

    1. I'm always slow to try a new technique but I don't know why. You wouldn't believe how long I avoided cabling either! I'll check out the Three Tams, thank So!
