I woke up at 3 am and checked the New York Times on my phone and was devastated to read the news. From that point on, I wondered how I would speak about it in my classroom. Fortunately, there was this. Not sure what else to do but hope and pray.
I read it out loud;they knew how upset I was and their questions, commenta, and our discussion reminded me why I teach. There is hope, I have to believe that.
That's a great article. All we did in classes yesterday was talk about the election. Madison is extremely Democratic, so it helped that everyone was one the same page. I was moved by how deeply the students were thinking and feeling. Yes, this is why we teach!
I don't envy you your job today Rose, what a sorry country we live in to think this man was elected.
